Telephathic
I think the cat may have established a telepathic link with me. Yesterday while I was nearing the end of my Sunday nap I started a brief dream where said cat escaped from my apartment again. I was looking around for him and then I heard what I think may have been a neighbour's voice shout my name really loud. In the dream I turned my head to see where the voice was coming from. In reality land, the startling call of my name woke me up. My head was turned on my bed and when I opened my eyes the cat was sitting there staring at me. As soon as I opened my eyes he began to yell at me about feeding him (1.5 hours early).
I'm fairly convinced he manipulated my dreams to wake me up. It was either that or my bladder. But I think it was the cat.

The Cat Came Back (And Now I Want To Hate Him)
The cat.
Grrrrr.
The cat is an indoor cat.
Occasionally I put the leash (that he came with) on him and let him snoop around my stoop. I'm nice that way. Part of the reason he is an indoor cat is that he doesn't have front claws and there are some large territorial tom cats in my neighbourhood. I fear he would get the snot beat out of him.
This morning while trying to leave the apartment with my laundry (which is a feat you'll understand if you've ever been to my place), the cat decided he too should exit. I hoped he would just stay on the stoop and I could put my laundry down, scoop him up and toss him inside.
Nay, nay.
Of course he wouldn't make things easy. He quickly made his way down the first flight of stairs, then onto the roof, then on to the roof of the garage.
There he is, perched, happy, delighted and filling me with angst.
I got some food to try and lure him back up the stairs.
As you can see, his level of care was not altered. And so he decided to keep exploring. He explored by walking on narrow things above the ground, leaving me to envision the conversation between me and his parents and just how he broke his hip.
Awesome. In his high wire exploring he found a friend. How neat.
Eventually he got down, explored one neighbour's yard, went under another neighbour's deck, ran around in the alley, got caught by me, fought me, won, ran into the neighbour's yard again, started eating the neighbour's plants and then got caught by me again.
He was very happy that I caught him. So happy in fact that he decided to give a little love nibble, right through my glove.
How delightful.
So now he is in my apartment (hopefully thinking about what he did) and I am out doing laundry (thinking about what he did). Somebody is going to lose their leashed stoop snooping privileges for a while.

A Pigment of My Imagination
This is what should happen when I decide to paint (anything - picture, wall, chair, etc)
- Envision everything that needs to happen from start to finish.
- Repeat step 1.
- Write down everything that needs to happen from start to finish.
- Submit written steps to multiple peers for review.
- Receive reviews.
- Review reviews.
- Make any adjustments to steps.
- Re-submit written steps with adjustments.
- Review the re-reviews.
- Acquire everything needed.
- Double check that everything is in place.
- Begin painting process one step at a time, careful checking the peer reviewed list before moving on to the next step.
- Thought - "Ooooh paint, I got this! So, so simple. I totally know how to do this!"
- Ruin project.
- Attempt to salvage project by using "creative" idea.
- Further ruin project.
- Attempt to salvage project with another creative brainstorm.
- Further ruin project.
- Stop before things could possibly get any worse.
- Hate universe.
- Promise to think things all the way through for next project.
- Repeat steps 1-9.

Intelligence
I did a multiple intelligences test last night. I thought I knew myself pretty well, but I was surprised at the results. "The Multiple Intelligences concepts and VAK (or VARK or VACT) learning styles models
offer relatively simple and accessible methods to understand and explain
people's preferred ways to learn and develop."
My highest intelligence was musical: "awareness, appreciation and use of sound; recognition of tonal and rhythmic patterns, understands relationship between sound and feeling"
Second highest - interpersonal: "ability to relate to others; interpretation of behaviour and communications; understands the relationships between people and their situations, including other people"
Third: - linguistic: "written and spoken; retention, interpretation and explanation of ideas and information via language, understands relationship between communication and meaning"
I think the biggest light bulb moment for me after seeing my results was a career suggestion from a friend. He told me it would the perfect job for me - singing and spending time with people in hospice situations. It fits my top three intelligences. Me thinks I should look into it.

If You're Happy and You Know It, Rub My Leg?
I'm back from Michigan in one piece. No head full of mucus was gonna stop me from coming back to my home and native land.
This guy was quite happy to see me:

And I Wish And Wish Again...
I'm in Michigan. Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dutch, CRC mecca.
In honour of that, I've decided to make up a list of things off the top of my head, that I know about the state of Michigan.
In honour of that, I've decided to make up a list of things off the top of my head, that I know about the state of Michigan.
- There is some sort of touristy Dutch village in the town of Holland, Michigan.
- It is pure - the billboards told me that.
- The roads are craptastic.
- Don't go to Flint.
- Don't go to Detroit.
- The traffic lights in Grand Rapids are weird.
- There is a grocery store called Meijer here.
- The Biermas live here. Well, most of them.
- During the weekend that the Calvin Worship Symposium fall on, it is impossible to drive from Ontario to Michigan on dry roads.
- The 911 lady is nice.
- The state patrol gets their man.
- There are a lot of Dutch people here.
- Amway comes from Michigan.

Getting Horny?
I'm thinking about joining a cult...
Yeah, a fake unicorn cult made up by the good people at Archie McPhee. I think before I join I have to acquire one of their totally non-scary unicorn masks...
Yup, totally non-scary. Clearly something I need to own.
Anyone else want to join?

Remembrance
Somewhere in the late hours of the day or the wee hours of the night over January 16/17, 1997 a friend of mine accidentally overdosed. He was at a party. He took some drugs. He took some more drugs. He got sleepy and told his girlfriend to wake him up in the morning when their ride came. But he didn't wake up.
His name was Aaron and I learned some things from him:
His name was Aaron and I learned some things from him:
- Dutch guys can rap
- bats can be kinda cute
- guys who wear Gwar shirts and paint their nails black can get along quite well with artsy, jock girls
- one person's influence can ripple through an entire community
- I can take a man seriously when he's wearing an almost skin tight tiger costume (we had many drama classes together)
