Sometimes...

...you get an A-, three smiley face paper back from Dr. Bowen. Sometimes you find it when you are packing. And sometimes you have to keep it for rainy days because that mark is hard to get and you may just need to remind yourself that you have the ability to get an A-, three smiley face paper back from Dr. Bowen.

I Think The Stress Might Be Getting To Me

This week is a little busy for me (which is why i'm blogging for dinner - obvi). After finishing my philosophy paper on Friday and attending Craig's memorial service, I get to move to this week's tasks - pack and move my entire apartment by Wednesday, write the take home exam for the philosophy course and pack to go NYC for the weekend (i know your heart aches for that one). That amongst the hustle and bustle of working, baseball, and everyday errands is keeping me hoping.

Rest assured, NYC and the use of Chelsea's parents beautiful camera will result in in-trip blogging. Oh yes.

Math

Tonight I remarked to Rachel Thorlakson that I had attended 4 weddings and a funeral this summer. Then I remembered that May is part of the summer and I have done 4 weddings and 2 funerals. I'm happy that the weddings are still winning 2:1. They will continue to up their ratio with the month of august and 2 more weddings.

Sadly, no one named Duckface yet.

Thought of the Night

Radishes and Blow-Pops are the only way to get through this.

Help! I Need Some Bodies! (And Some Cars, Oh And A Truck...)

Dear people who love me,

I love you too.

Guess what? I have an idea for how you can put your love into action! I am moving on August 1. That is one week from now! Hooray! Oh wait, moving sucks. But no, moving doesn't suck (so much) when you have a bunch of your friends to help you and then you fill your faces with pizza afterwards. (Are ya with me?)

Mostly what I need is people and vehicles. I'd like to do this is one shuh-bang - ie take everything over from one apartment to the other at once. So we all come to my place on Wednesday after work, we fill cars (and one truck, i need one truck, or a van...anyone?) with most of my earthly belongings and then we truck them up to my new place (10min drive) and drop them there. I will do all the work after that. But me, my back and my Honda Civic can't handle the rest.

So what says you? Honestly, with enough people and vehicles it shouldn't take a crazy long time. The biggest piece of furniture I have is a desk (my bed comes fully apart, there's a dresser and two practically cardboard ikea bookshelves). Let me know if you're in and then I'll coordinate things via email - like what time people are done work/when we can get this party started.

Thank you. I promise I love you for more than your muscles (as long as you love me for more than my neediness and pizza),

Laura

We're Sorry, The Laura You Have Dialed Is Currently Not Available

I'm going to be on a retreat all weekend doing some much needed listening and resting and such.

I will be unavailable for the weekend. But, should you absolutely need to get a message through to me, Sarah Moerman will be able to do that. So you can call my cell, leave a message here or on her blog or email her.

Thank you. Regular posting will resume after the weekend - two good texts posts coming down the tubes (toobs) - one about brides and the other about female pop music groups.

Pretty

Happy Birthday Mrs. Ridder!

I haven't forgot it since the year I remembered Marie's and not yours while you were in Korea. And how could I forget such a beautiful friend's birthday, hmmm?

You are my oldest RUC friend; gave me a solid start in the SGC as foreign correspondent, and look, I'm the president now; you're a choir friend; a wedding singer duet friend; a daughter of a Marg friend; you know the trials of being a farmer's daughter; you are the queen of 9x13 jello shooters and mexican mess; you are fantastic for long walks and talks; apparently you're not so good at toobing over jagged rocks; you make a beautiful wife and a stand up friend.

Maybe

Maybe you were hoping to have a whoooole lot of hanging out with me during the rest of this month. And maybe I'd really like that. But maybe I have to write a 10 page paper and pack up my entire apartment by the end of the month. So unless you're going to the retreat, Kat's cottage or a baseball game of anyone in my family (aka the bro or the me), well, then I'll see you in August!

Ps - I welcome phone calls during times of packing.

Subject: memorial service for craig vanderveen

We are now able to announce that a memorial service for Craig Vanderveen will be held on Friday, July 27, at 8:00 pm in Redeemer's auditorium. It will be led by our Chaplain, Syd Hielema. Craig's parents, Al and Anita Vanderveen, will also be present. This will give an opportunity to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to remember Craig, give thanks to God for his life and grieve his loss. (We will also take some time to acknowledge Craig's passing in a chapel in September for the sake of all of our students.) Please continue to uphold Craig's family in prayer, and also pray that all who are part of this service will experience the Lord's grace and be strengthened in their faith.

Logic

GtGW: He lives in the Emerald City, and thats a long journey from here. Did you bring your broomstick with you?
D: No, I'm afraid I didn't.
GtGW: Well then you'll have to walk.

Amen. Who can argue with that?

Not Just In Dance Form

I found this in the Anglican Book Common of Prayer:

43. For Rain

O God, heavenly Father, who by thy Son Jesus Christ
hast promised to all those who seek thy kingdom and its
righteousness all things necessary to sustain their life: Send
us, we entreat thee, in this time of need, such moderate rain
and showers, that we may receive the fruits of the earth, to
our comfort and to thy honor; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.

I bet I could get another two dollars per hour if I promised my boss that I would pray this 7 times an hour!

greg, Greg, GREG!

Please Meet My New Friend Greg. I Love Her.

This is Greg.

Greg is a girl. And what a girl! She was born on Saturday morning - yup - 07/07/07. Turns out her real name is Madeleine Emma Legg. She was 7lbs 10oz.

Greg is the product of a soprano and a tenor. This means that she will need all the husky alto loving she can get from her sagely Tante Stew.

Greg is still pretty fresh to the world. So we should probably pray for her and for her excited new parents.

I didn't want to bring this up, but well, Greg has pretty big feet for a wee lass. I'm sure she'll grow into them and become the best clogger, speed skater or water skier money can buy!

Greg is pretty neat and I think we all agree that she can stick around. I'd say she's in pretty good hands.

So yeah: 2-4-6-8-Go Greg!

Back

My biggest and closest a$$ kickers are finally all in the same country AND province for the first time since January! My heart likes that.
